CAA

Hello readers! Months have passed since the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) passed from India’s Parliament. Many of you might not be interested now on this topic. But if anyone of you, here it is.
What is CAA?
64-year-old India’s citizenship act defines illegal immigrants as foreigners who enter India without a valid passport or travel documents or stay beyond the permitted time. Illegal immigrants can be deported or jailed.
CAA now permits illegal non- Muslim immigrants to claim their citizenship who are unable to provide proof of residence.
The CAA lowers the qualification period for becoming an Indian citizen for non- Muslim immigrants from 11 years to five, as long as they have entered India on or before 31 December 2014.
Any person that meets this requirement does not have to produce any documents to prove his or her citizenship under the Act.
Anti-CAA logics.
According to the people who protested/are protesting against CAA say that this act is anti-muslim as it says “non-muslim” immigrants.
Opponents say faith cannot be made a condition of citizenship.
Critics say that if it is genuinely aimed at protecting minorities, the bill should have included Muslim religious minorities who have faced persecution in their own countries - Ahmadis in Pakistan and Rohingyas in Myanmar, for example.
Rumors were also deliberately spread that CAA is against Indian Muslims who are already proud citizens of India.
CAA actual logics:
In India, all Indians including 14.2% Muslims enjoy the same right. There is no danger to the people who are already legal citizen of India.
In countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan there has been persecution of religious minorities for decades. Non-Muslims are forced (non-Muslim girls are abducted, raped) to accept Islam and convert into Muslims. To protect their religion many non-muslim run to India for shelter. All three countries are Islamic republics; this is why we see citizens of minority communities (non-Muslim) pouring into India from these countries.
Also Naturalised citizenship is an option for others who legally claim Indian citizenship.
It has few more points.
Take care
stay safe.
